St Michael's, Crosspatrick, is a two-teacher National School. Situated in a beautiful rural environment of north-west Kilkenny, this school is in every respect a modern teaching establishment with a long tradition of excellence and of attention to the needs of children. In educational resources, Crosspatrick school boasts of the latest in computer technology, broadband internet access, and powerpoint teaching aids. The children are all encouraged to take part in this technological side of modern education. Recreation facilities include an extensive one-acre playing field, with sports and play equipment funded by Department of Education special grants. Field trips to sites of local interest take place regularly, and are an integral part of the happy atmosphere generated by the school. Our school tour is an annual highpoint, in which parents are encouraged to participate. In 2003 the Irish Times called St Michael's School, Crosspatrick, 'an educational jewel'. The small class numbers (the total attendance for the whole school currently stands at 27) ensure that each child receives tremendous individual attention, a fact that has made pupils from Crosspatrick stand out when they proceed to secondary education. Crosspatrick school is under the patronage of the Catholic Diocese of Ossory , and the affairs of the school are administered by a Board of Management.
